Mortgage Packager – Clever Lending

The Department & Role

Clever Lending are a Specialist Distributor, focused on delivering first charge mortgages, second charge mortgages, commercial and bridging loans that meet client needs – whilst providing a service to be relied on at every stage.

Clever are looking for a highly experienced professional with the ability to be able to understand the complex market of Specialist First Charge Lending and take cases from initial enquiry through placement with a panel of lenders whilst providing support for the administration department to see cases through to completion

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to processes
  • Ensure all processes and packaging are fully compliant
  • Ensure applications are processed in a timely manner
  • The use of empirical knowledge gained from industry experience to place vanilla through to difficult cases with a panel of lenders through to completion assisted by the administration department
  • Ability to challenge and influence lenders with decisions
  • Ensure that existing pipeline is managed to a high level
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of the industry and trends in the market
  • Maintain service Levels
  • Use company management systems to record and update referrals, commissions and sources of business
  • Create and maintain existing broker relationships

Knowledge, Experience & Key Skills

  • Knowledge of the intermediary market
  • Knowledge of The Specialist First Charge Market
  • Understand the PRA Rules on Buy T0 Let
  • Understand taxation to a certain degree
  • Specialist First Charge lender criteria
  • Existing 1st Charge lender relationships
  • Methodical and reliable with attention to detail
  • Confident with good verbal and written communication skills
  • History of working with intermediaries
  • Ability to engage with others and be a team player
  • Keen for new experiences, responsibilities and accountability
  • Mature, credible and comfortable in dealing with a wide range of lenders, sales managers, financial institutions
  • Ability to work using own initiative

Risk Assessment

 

  •  To have knowledge of the company’s Compliance and TCF guidelines and to provide service levels within those guidelines
  • To recognise potential problems and act responsively and notify the appropriate Manager.
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the specified sales processes and T&C guidelines.

 COMPUTER SKILLS:

 

Must be adept at using Microsoft Office 2000 or later. Have particularly good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, and ideally Microsoft Office or a similar E-mail database to a basic level. In addition have a broad knowledge of the internet and are able to use this for research and development.

 

LITERACY & NUMERACY:

Able to understand basic business finance, e.g. percentages and calculations, income and expenditure. Must be a competent writer of business letters.

  

BUSINESS AND SELLING SKILLS:

 

  • Must be an excellent telephone communicator
  • Experience within the financial industry is a key benefit
