Totemic volunteers ensure success at Inspire+ Mini Olympics

On one of the hottest days in June, 14 courageous Totemic colleagues used a volunteer day to help support 1100 children at this year’s Inspire+ Mini Olympics.

With soaring temperatures befitting the theme of ‘Carnival’ the order of the day was to keep hydrated and to remember to liberally apply sun block!

Held annually since 2008, Inspire+ invite Lincolnshire primary schools to bring teams of their year 3 and 4 pupils with their Bronze Young Ambassadors to participate in the event where they experience Olympic and Paralympic sporting activities.

Our volunteers were responsible for approximately 70 students each – a daunting prospect you might think – however, all the volunteers took it in their stride like true professionals! They ensured the event ran smoothly, from the moment the schools arrived at the Grantham Meres Leisure centre to ensuring each group participated in their scheduled sporting activity; everything ran to time right up to the closing Carnival celebration.

Chris Graves, Operations Manager at Inspire+ said:

“We wanted to say thank all the Totemic volunteers for your help in making this year’s Mini Olympics possible! It was an amazing event, which everyone went away from smiling.

“We have had such positive feedback from schools, coaches and parents of how much it was enjoyed! We could not have made the event possible without the help of yourself and I hope you enjoyed the experience. We were extremely happy with the event and already looking at the next steps for it to expand next year.

“I hope we will be able work again on the event next year.”
