More than £1m of debt written-off for vulnerable clients

PayPlan’s vulnerable client team had another successful year after writing off more than £1m worth of debt for clients during 2018!

This specialist PayPlan team works with clients who have long-term vulnerabilities including terminal illness, physical disabilities, learning difficulties and various mental health problems who have no means of paying off their debts.

Emma Gibbons from PayPlan’s vulnerable client team said: “Over the last 12 months the split has been 43% men and 57% female – this has recently started to shift by a small margin to 44% men and 56%.

“Although this change is only slight, it’s encouraging to see that men are starting to open up more about their circumstances.”

Emma also said that 70% of client disclosures about addictions are due to gambling. That’s why late last year PayPlan collaborated with GamCare for the Let’s Talk About Debt And Gambling campaign.

This campaign ran throughout the gambling awareness week (1st – 7th Nov) and PayPlan was very happy with its success. On Facebook alone PayPlan reached over 13,275 people with this very important message.

PayPlan’s vulnerability team has a robust process in place which makes sure signs of vulnerability are spotted straight away. Clients are then provided with the most appropriate help depending on their needs.
